ZyXEL ZyWALL OTP Provides Strong Authentication Solution
Hsinchu, July 3, 2007-- ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today unveils its latest ZyWALL security solution with One-time Password (OTP) authentication technology. The ZyWALL OTP is empowered by a strong two-factor authentication mechanism that permits just one token or password to work in many applications. Since the token has virtually no expiration date, the method is easy to use and manage, and it integrates seamlessly with ZyWALL security products for lower operating costs.
In traditional security systems, it's relatively easy for unauthorized intruders to crack a static password given enough time for malicious attempts. With a one-time password, the risk can be greatly reduced by constantly altering the combination.
With a chip-based, 6-digit numeric token used alongside a password for strong two-factor authentication, the ZyWALL OTP solution includes a RADIUS-standard ASAS server for back-end OTP authentication to work alongside the ZyWALL OTP operated on client computers. The ASAS server is a network security application that provides LAN, Web, VPN and remote access operations with strong authentication capability.
Together, the ZyWALL OTP client-sever combination provides highly robust one-time password authentication to protect network resources and traffics such as remote VPN authentication. Since expired tokens can cause inconvenience for administrators to reconfigure user settings and re-issue new ones, the ZyWALL OTP is equipped with a heavy-duty battery to extend the token validity from the usual one year to three years to prevent premature expiration.
To small-to-medium businesses, enterprises and organizations, an intuitive, reliable, easy and effortless two-factor authentication system is always in demand. In addition to powerful security features, the ZyWALL OTP can be easily deployed along with other ZyWALL security products and integrated into the existing network infrastructure to provide users with significantly elevated safety levels and minimized costs.
