ZyXEL To Work With Intel To Develop Dimension Layer 3 Switches
Hsinchu, March 10, 2003 --ZyXEL Communications Co., (TAI: 2391.TW), world's leading broadband access solution vendor, today announced that it has chosen Intel(R) Media Switch silicon as the switching engine for its upcoming Dimension ES-4024 Layer 3 switches.
Designed for enterprise backbone and Metro Area Networks (MAN) applications, ZyXEL's Dimension ES-4024 incorporates the Intel(R) Media Switch IXE2424 and features 24-port 10/100 with two Gigabit slots and one 2-Gigabit stacking port. With Layer 3 at wire speed IP switching, the Dimension ES-4024 provides 12.8Gbps non-blocking switching capability.
In addition, The Dimension ES-4024 provides 4K VLAN ID and rule-based Quality of Service (QoS). Comprehensive MAC filtering and broadcast storm control enable the ES-4024 to block unnecessary traffics. Web-based GUI, Telnet and local console provide easy but powerful network management. SNMP and RMON make network administration easy and efficient. With optional module, 2 Gigabit slots support versatile uplink requirement like GBIC, 1000Base-SX/LX, 1000Base-T and 100FX.
