ZyXEL Launches User-Friendly Dual-Band 11ac Media Router

Ultra-Fast Gigabit Router Delivers Effortless High-Speed Streaming of HD Content as well as Home Network Management Functionality

August 14, 2014 -  Hsinchu, Taiwan - ZyXEL Communications, announced the release of its NBG6616 router, a router that takes advantage of 802.11ac speed and dual-band radios to provide consumers with a high value device specifically engineered to stream HD media throughout the home as well as low-latency, high-speed gaming and web browsing.

The ZyXEL NBG6616 Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless AC1200 Media Router applies the latest AC technology to deliver concurrent transfer rates of up to 300 Mbps* for 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps for 5 GHz for faster simultaneous Internet access from laptops, smartphones and tablets at home. The dual-band network maintains higher wireless network speed across greater distances for maximum wireless coverage around the consumer's home for a better streaming and sharing experience.

The device supports ZyXEL's zConfig app, which lets the user easily and simply configures the NBG6616. It also features a special access route for guests, enabling them Internet connectivity but without compromising content on other personal networked devices. Internet access for additional devices within the home including PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and game consoles can be controlled via zConfig, making complete home network management simple and straightforward.

The NBG6616 also boasts advanced Quality of Service (QoS) functionality so activities that require faster speed can receive the highest priority bandwidth. DLNA enables the router to simply share videos, photos, music and other multimedia throughout the home over multiple types of devices including game consoles and DLNA enabled apps on mobile devices.

When paired with other ZyXEL products such as NAS devices including the NSA325 v2, NSA320S, and NSA310S, the router not only expedites file sharing but offers the user anytime/anywhere access from mobile devices via zCloud, Polkast, or ownCloud apps, essentially creating their own personal and private cloud storage service.
