ZyXEL Introduces NSA-220 Dual-Drive Network Attached Storage for Digital Homes

Built-in DLNA Server Makes Digital Media Content Storage, Access, Sharing and Backup Trouble-free

Hsinchu, March 8, 2007 -- ZyXEL Communications Corp (TSE: 2391), the world's largest residential gateway provider (In-Stat, 2006), today announced the latest addition to its network storage product line. ZyXEL NSA-220, a dual-bay network attached storage empowers digital homes with a centralized storage solution to be shared throughout the house. The new storage appliance not only makes storing, accessing, sharing and backing-up digital contents quick and easy, but also features a built-in DLNA server to stream digital files to any DLNA-capable device.

"Media integration in Digital Home environments depends on seamless interoperability and ease-of-use of all components," said Chinru Lin, director of consumer product division at ZyXEL. "Regardless of the origins, multimedia contents from personal computers, MP3 players and digital cameras can be stored in and shared through ZyXEL NSA-220. Digital convergence is of a top priority as ZyXEL introduces new products that enable consumers of all technical levels to take pleasure of digital homes."

ZyXEL NSA-220 offers a quick and easy way to store, access, share and backup important files through the "network neighborhood", or via FTP from any computer on the network. ZyXEL NSA-220 supports two SATA drives for a total capacity of up to 1.5 terabytes (TB), while its two USB ports allow users to add even more storage with external drives. These USB ports can also be utilized to transfer files from MP3 players, digital cameras and other external mass storage devices without the need for a computer.

The built-in DLNA server streams music, video and photos to DLNA 1.0-compliant devices such as TVs, stereo systems and ZyXEL's new DMA-1000, among others. Besides, NAS-220 is currently the only product in its class to bundle DLNA client software for users to playback contents from any PC.

For data security, ZyXEL NAS-220 provides a multi-tiered protection scheme: The bundled Memeo AutoBackup software helps users to backup from PC instantly; and the intelligent " auto-copy" button helps users to duplicate files from external storage or card readers to NSA-220 with a simple click. As a bottom line, the built-in mirror mode helps users to prevent the loss of priceless home and personal collections from any single disk failure. Its flexible drive configuration options include RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD.
