ZyXEL Expands Portfolio with M-Series Carrier Ethernet Switches
Hsinchu, Taiwan April 30, 2008 -- ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391) recently announced significant product additions and enhancements to its Ethernet switch portfolio. The newly launched ZyXEL M-Series Carrier Ethernet Switches include the ZyXEL MES-3728 and the MGS-3712/MGS-3712F, representing ZyXEL's entrance into the world of Metro (Metropolitan) Ethernet networking and demonstrating its capability with Metro Ethernet deployment technologies.
The MES-3728, a 24-port Carrier Fast Ethernet Managed Switch with non-blocking 12.8 Gbps switching fabric and the MGS-3712/MGS-3712F, 12-port Carrier Gigabit Managed Ethernet Switches with non-blocking 24 Gbps switching fabric, all offer L2 switching. These Carrier Ethernet switches allow service providers a flexible and cost effective solution in their metro networks to satisfy their needs.
With excellent technology and performance, ZyXEL M- Series Ethernet switches have already successfully won the tender this year, from Taiwan's largest incumbent telecom operator, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT). For providing cutting-edge MOD service, CHT has raised the equipment and standard bar significantly. The win of this tender has demonstrated that our capabilities in Carrier Ethernet technology for metro networking clearly meet at least one major customer's demands.
"ZyXEL has invested heavily in the innovation of Ethernet products to fulfill service providers' different topology demands in any environment. As a member of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), an organization of members and certification receivers capable of taking active roles for wide-area Ethernet networking, based on industry positioning as well as credibility, we are confident about the quality of our Ethernet products," said Alpha Chen, Assistant VP of ZyXEL's Ethernet Product Division. "With the success of CHT and the guarantee of MEF, we believe that the carrier class QoS, scalability, reliability and exclusive service management design of ZyXEL Carrier Ethernet products will help our customers deliver more differentiated Carrier Ethernet services."
For Carrier Ethernet deployment, service providers are looking for an easily deployed carrier-class solution with intelligence. The ZyXEL MES/MGS-3700 series provides architectural flexibility and intelligent service delivery mechanisms to build a scalable and reliable service-driven metro network. The switches' "Front Access" design enables easy wiring and maintenance for the outdoor cabinet. The Dual AC/DC power Input offers customers the flexibility for meeting current and future business service needs. The PWM control fan module not only reduces the noise, but extends MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), raising switch reliability. The external alarm input/output block connects cabinet parts to the management networks. On top of all this, the switches' high-tolerance operation temperature range, humidity and dust protection allow them to be used anywhere no matter how bad the environment is. These features simplify life for service providers, increase ease of use in deployment and reduce operating expenses.
ZyXEL MES-3728, MGS-3712 and MGS-3712F are now available and can be ordered via ZyXEL's global sales network of system integrators and value-added resellers. To find a ZyXEL distributor nearest to your location, visit the information site at http://www.zyxel.com/web/where_tobuy.php
