ZyXEL Delivers Prestige 623 Dual-link ADSL Router

Hsinchu, Taiwan, September 6, 2002 -- ZyXEL Communications Co., (TAI: 2391.TW) an innovator and leading provider of broadband access solutions, today announced immediate availability of its Prestige 623 dual-link ADSL router. The new ADSL router will provide an ideal solution for home offices and residential users to browse high speed Internet and make LAN-to-LAN connections to remote networks.

ZyXEL's newly announced Prestige 623 ADSL router integrates a high-speed 10/100Mbps LAN interface, a USB port and one high-speed ADSL port into a single package. It combines the super-fast speed of ADSL technology with the ease of setup and operation facilitated by a Plug and Play USB interface. The dual port design provides more interface options for users.

Complying with both G.DMT (ITU G.992.1) and G.Lite (ITU G.992.2) standards, the Prestige 623 is interoperable with major central office DSLAM equipment, including Alcatel and Globalspan. The Prestige 623 delivers ultra-fast downstream transmission speeds of up to 8Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 1024Kbps.

The Prestige 623 will make ADSL deployment much easier with its PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE). PPPoE eliminates the pre-installation requirement of PPPoE software or Microsoft Virtual Network Software. This breakthrough greatly reduces the support cost of installing PPPoE software to different computer platforms, and enables the product to become truly plug-and-play.

The Prestige 623's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and the Network Address Translation (NAT) features allows multi-computer homes and offices to share high speed Internet access. Operating systems the Prestige 623 supports include Windows 98/98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and XP.

The Prestige 623 is designed for quick, intuitive and easy installation. By using built-in Web-based configurator, the Prestige 623 enables novices to easily install and manage the device.
