ZyXEL Chooses Meetinghouse to Provide 802.1x Security for its ZyAIR Series of WLAN Solutions

AEGIS Client software and Authentication API to be used by leading broadband access solutions provider in its 802.1x-based Wireless LAN products

Hsinchu, Taiwan, March 18, 2003 - Meetinghouse, a leading developer of standards-based network authentication software for wired and wireless local-area networks, announces a partnership with ZyXEL Communications Co., a world leader in broadband access solutions, in which Meetinghouse's AEGIS Client and AEGIS Authentication API technology will be used to provide authentication security for ZyXEL's ZyAIR family of 802.11b Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions.

AEGIS Client is an 802.1x-based software solution for wireless and wired LAN security. AEGIS Authentication API is part of the Meetinghouse AEGIS API Suite which helps provide partners with fast time-to-market with 802.1x-based security solutions. When used with ZyXEL's ZyAIR products, users gain a powerful but economical WLAN solution with intuitive, easy to use security protection.

AEGIS Client is an 802.1x-based authentication solution supporting MD5, TLS, TTLS, LEAP and PEAP on the Windows operating systems. It works with 802.1x wireless access points and authentication servers, including Meetinghouse's AEGIS Server. The AEGIS API Suite enables third-parties to gain rapid 802.1x compliance, and consists of three APIs: Authentication, Wireless Configuration and Network Configuration.

Designed for the booming residential and small office networking markets, ZyXEL ZyAIR includes a Wireless gateway, Access Point (AP), PC Card, PCI Card, USB Adapter and Ethernet Adapter. ZyAIR sets the new standard in wireless networking with its IEEE 802.1x security architecture, which uses Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) services and provides more secure authentication than simply verifying user names and passwords. Working in conjunction with a remote access server such as a RADIUS server, ZyAIR provides centralized, user-based authentication and single-user, single-session encryption keys.
