ZyXEL broadband access solution receives certification from Copper Mountain

CopperCompatible designation for Prestige 642 line opens additional markets for high-value DSL customer premises equipment

Placentia, November 13, 2000 - ZyXEL Communications, a leading designer and manufacturer of broadband access solutions, today announced that its Prestige 642 Series product line had received full compatibility certification from Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTN), a leading provider of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solutions for business and residential users.

The "CopperCompatible" certification ensures buyers that ZyXEL's broadband access solutions are fully interoperable with service provider networks utilizing Copper Mountain equipment. The "CopperCompatible" program was created to help facilitate faster and broader market acceptance of DSL as a mainstream bandwidth delivery mechanism. With Copper Mountain's extensive installed base of DSL equipment, this certification gives customers on many of the world's most highly subscribed DSL networks the ability to take advantage of the Prestige 642 Series advanced features and superior value. Those networks include those of ICG, NorthPoint, Rhythms NetConnections, and UUnet/MCI/WorldCom.

ZyXEL's Prestige 642 Series DSL Bridge/Router is a feature-rich, value-priced access solution specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of small office/home office and residential users, enabling high-speed Internet connections at speeds of up to 8Mbps. The Prestige 642 provides full-featured routing options, including IP/IPX routing, DHCP server and client support, IP Policy Routing, and IGMP for IP multicast. It also provides for highly automated setup and administration - a key requirement for large-scale DSL service roll-outs.

Copper Mountain had previously certified ZyXEL's Prestige P641 CopperCompatible.
