ZyXEL Announces P-793H G.SHDSL.bis 4-port Security Gateway

Secure Internet Access with Fast Symmetric Connection

Hsinchu, November 21, 2006 -- ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE: 2391), the world's largest residential gateway provider (In-State, 2006), today unveils its high-performance P-793H G.SHDSL.bis gateway to provide Internet access and LAN-to-LAN applications for small/medium office users.  With the advanced G.SHDSL.bis technology, the P-793H offers data transmission rates of up to 5.69Mbps in 2-wire mode. In 4-wire mode, users can get up to twice the transmission speed at 11.38Mbps.

Based on Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Denial of Service (DoS) and DDoS features, the P-793H provides the first line of defense against hackers, network intruders, and other malicious threats. Furthermore, its VPN feature supports data encryption over the Internet to ensure secure data transmission between two sites without the use of a leased line, reducing operation costs. 

With the Media Bandwidth Management (MBM) function that prioritizes services, the P-793H guarantees Quality of Service (QoS) to increase productivity and efficiency in daily operations by tailoring bandwidth allocation to specific demands such as VoIP, video streaming, video-conferencing or interactive game applications.

The P-793H features a Fail-over and Fail-back WAN Backup Solution for complete network reliability. When the DSL connection fails, the P-793H automatically forwards traffic to either the backup ISDN or analog modem to maintain smooth data transmission. When the DSL connection is re-established, network traffic through the P-793H will resume again. The P-793H can also redirect traffic to a specific gateway to ensure availability of Internet connection. The WAN Backup Solution saves device maintenance cost and reduces business loss from unexpected network disruptions.
