Designed for dial-up Internet access via the PSTN (Public-Switched Telephone Network) line, ZyXEL's Omni 56K USB Lite supports ITU V.90 protocol and can run a downstream maximum rate of 56Kbps and upstream rate of 33.6Kbps. The Omni 56K USB Lite provides the best transmission quality with its automatic fall-back and fall-forward technology. The Omni 56K USB Lite will automatically adapt its transmission speed when communicating with slower modems or when encountering unstable line conditions. The modem will resume the maximum speed once the transmission condition returns to normal.

Fax Functionality
In addition to its 56Kbps data transmission, the Omni 56K USB Lite automatically detects data and voice calls on a single telephone line. Supporting built-in Group 3 send and receive fax functions at speeds of up to 14.4Kbps, the Omni 56K USB Lite works as an ideal fax machine, and supports EIA Class 1 Command sets for fax operation.
