The ZyXEL VoIP Series Takes the Center Stage of Germany's Reddot Product Design Award

Simplistic, Slender and Elegant Exterior Wins Acclaims from International Judges

Hsinchu, March 14, 2007 --ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), the world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today announced its another achievement in the industrial design arena: ZyXEL's VoIP Series, including P-2302HWL-P1 and P-2303HWUDL-P1, won the 2007 Reddot Award from Germany with its thin upright"submarine design", elegant curvy lines and silver tone that turned the "black box" image of networking products into a high-tech sculptural art. This follows ZyXEL's last honor from Japan's G-Mark design award as a top-notch creative powerhouse. The awarded ZyXEL products will become part of Reddot museum's collection in Essen, Germany for the world to appreciate.

"As we develop our brand image, truly original innovation and industrial design are being carefully crafted as well," said Gordon Yang, ZyXEL's senior VP of Branding Sales and Global Marketing Business Unit. "Through leading-edge material and design, as well as an outstanding product identification system, we are able to attract consumers with our professional image and quality. In addition to giving individualistic, eye-catching designs to different product lines, ZyXEL also strives to bringing unprecedented futuristic beauty and pleasant experience to our customers.

The awarded VoIP Series from ZyXEL are 802.11g Wireless VoIP station gateways. The ZyXEL industrial design team took the common, mediocre "black box" design off the VoIP Series while giving it a sleek upright form, rounded shape and silver tone; moreover, the wavy heat-dissipating grill unique to ZyXEL designs is adopted to give it a "cool" effect from both technical and aesthetics perspectives.

For easier status signaling, ZyXEL offers practical three-way universal LED lights for users to read clearly from virtually any direction; and the "holster-style" wall mounting bracket also adds versatility and flexibility to the installation process. To enhance the wireless reception, the foldable antenna has been cleverly designed to sit on top of the box for better range and performance.

The Red Dot is an internationally-recognized annual industrial design award founded by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the most prestigious design institute in Europe, fifty years ago. In the 2007 contest, 2548 entries from 43 countries were submitted to be reviewed by the judge panel from their degree of innovation, aesthetics, marketability, functionality, ergonomics and ecological compatibility. As a winner, ZyXEL's VoIP Series will be exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum to the world's industrial and cultural leaders.
