Learn moreThe hospital not only needed to be completed rapidly but its medical equipment and other IT systems needed to be unified as a single network, which would require integrating the already deployed optical network. Speed was also critical. The new network demands data rates of 1 to 10 Gbps. Three vendors participated in the tender. “The speed of equipment delivery was our top priority,” Maxim Andreev, PM at system integrator Light Technology said. “In addition, the system needed to ensure high reliability and the vendor needed to have a local service center and Russian-language support.” Zyxel Networks won the bid because of its strong regional presence, and it walked the walk, with the network ready for the hospital’s launch. Its ZyWALL 310 VPN Firewall was deployed to connect the hospital’s three buildings and ensure encrypted communications, while Zyxel switches were used to construct the network’s hierarchical structure for a secure, high-speed, and resilient network. The switches connect various devices into a single platform, allowing easier device and bandwidth management. The XGS4600-32 L3 Aggregation Switch, which was used as the core switch, comes with Gigabit connectivity and four integrated 10-Gigabit SFP+ slots for optic connectivity. In addition, its dynamic routing simplifies cross-subnet communications for the hospital’s complex networks.
