Zyxel Networks launches eco-friendly mini Ethernet switches for small businesses
HSINCHU, Taiwan, December 2, 2024—Zyxel Networks, a leader in delivering secure and AI-powered cloud networking solutions, has launched updated versions of its GS-100 series 5- and 8-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) unmanaged mini-sized switches. Designed specifically for small office and home office (SOHO) environments, these easy-to-use switches provide seamless connectivity in an ultra-compact design that suits both small spaces and budgets.
Accessible, high-speed connectivity
The GS-100 series switches are unmanaged and simple to use, allowing SOHO users to connect their devices without any additional setup. The two new models deliver robust, high-speed Gigabit connectivity and are available with either 5 or 8 plug-and-play ports. This makes it easy to connect multiple essential devices, including IP phones, network attached storage (NAS), routers, PCs, and games consoles.
Each model has front-facing ports and LED indicators, making port status checks and device monitoring simple. For bandwidth-sensitive devices, the GS-100 series also includes clearly labeled Quality of Service (QoS) ports that prioritize traffic, ensuring high-speed performance for applications such as VoIP and video conferencing, where smooth and consistent performance is crucial.
Compact power for any office
Available in an ultra-compact design of just 8 or 12 cm wide, which is smaller than the majority of smartphones, the mini switches can easily fit on crowded desks without taking up too much valuable space. The switches’ fanless design delivers noise-free operation, making them an ideal choice for SOHO users who prioritize a distraction-free working environment.
Durable and sustainable
The updated GS-100 series boasts a metal housing for improved durability. This not only prevents damage but allows the switches to operate in a wider range of temperatures than plastic alternatives. The series supports the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard, which automatically reduces power use during periods of low network traffic, making them ideal for energy-conscious users.
Compared to the previous generation, the updated design has not only made the product lighter but has reduced carbon emissions by up to 50.89%. The product packaging is also 26.95% smaller than previous models, boosting transportation efficiencies by accommodating up to 50% more units per pallet.*
