ZyXEL Introduces Network Switching Solution with Rich Features

Advanced Layer-2 Plus Performance Ensures Non-stop Business Operations

The new switching solution offers not only a complete Layer-2 feature set but also additional functionalities from Layer-3; the advanced combination allows the new Gigabit switching solution to ensure uninterrupted business sustainability in the event of mission-critical applications deployed for data centre access, SMB core and aggregation as well as PoE (Power over Ethernet) employments.

The new GbE Switching Series boasts several hardware and software advancements. The portfolio comprises of eight models with hardware designations for flexible deployments – 24- and 48-port configurations, PoE (Power over Ethernet) and non-PoE designs as well as 1GbE and 10GbE uplink speeds. The software feature set of static routing, Policy Based Routing (PBR), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Equal Cost Multipath Routing (ECMP) further enhances the system performance. The combined functionalities empowered by both hardware and software upgrades significantly enhance system redundancy and resilience, while hardware designs such as the dual internal power supplies ensure zero downtime caused by relevant failures. The hot-swappable fan and power modules allow uninterrupted system service even if troubleshooting or maintenance tasks are in process; these are all essential for businesses to stay on non-stop operations. Moreover, the PoE models are the best choice for bandwidth-intensive, mission-critical IP surveillance, WLAN and high-quality VoIP deployments.

In addition to ZyXEL’s excellent hardware engineering capability, the XGS/GS3700 GbE Layer-2 Plus Switching Solution also takes advantage of the remarkable software enhancements; the supports for Equal Cost Multipath Routing (ECMP) and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) greatly increase network availability and reliability. The ECMP allows balanced distribution of application-compressed traffics across multiple high-bandwidth links to avoid congestion for optimal bandwidth efficiency. With VRRP that allows several first-hop virtual routers to dynamically share an IP address with one as the master and the others as backups, the network system is highly reliable and resilient against failures. The software enhancements benefit businesses to a point with reduced administrative overhead comparing to the employment of dynamic routing protocols or client discovery mechanisms.
