Announces New Internet Security Gateway Product Line -- ZyWALL
Hsinchu, Taiwan, December 28, 2000 -- ZyXEL Communications Co. (TAI:2391.TW), a pioneer manufacturer and supplier of integrated DSL solutions, today announced immediate availability of the first network security appliance in its new Internet security gateway product line, the ZyWALL 10. Integrated with Internet Firewall and network management features, the ZyWALL 10 is tailored for SOHO and small businesses to provide a complete security solution to protect the offices' Intranet and efficiently manage data traffic on the network.
The ZyWall 10 is an ideal solution for sharing broadband Internet access while providing maximum network security. A 10Mbps Ethernet interface allows broadband Internet access via an ADSL or cable modem, and Web based setup wizard simplifies initial installation and configuration.
Based on ICSA certified Firewall platform, ZyXEL Network Operating System's (ZyNOS) stateful inspection allows the ZyWALL 10 to act as a secure gateway between the Internet and the LAN. With stateful inspection, fields of packets are compared to packets that are already known to be trusted, preventing theft, destruction, and modification of data and log events from outside hackers and vandals on the Internet. The ZyWALL 10 also supports TCP/UDP inspection, real time alerts, reports and logs.
Denial of Service (DoS) attacks disable devices and networks so that users no longer have access to network resources. The ZyWALL 10 is pre-configured to automatically detect and thwart DoS attacks.
The ZyWALL 10's MultiNAT technology enables network administrators to flexibly designate fixed IPs for Web, FTP, etc. servers behind the ZyWALL that need to be accessible to the outside world, while allowing an unlimited number of LAN users to access the Internet simultaneously with one or more legal IP addresses.
ZyXEL's NAT supports popular Internet applications such as NetMeeting, CUSeeMe, ICQ, RealPlayer, Quake and PPTP with no extra configuration needed. The ZyWALL Firewall also allows IPSec VPN traffic to pass through NAT, which allows businesses to provide secure network links for all offices, partners, and remote telecommuters.
Integrated with ZyXEL's PPPoE technology, the ZyWALL 10 provides DSL subscribers with a familiar dial-up networking interface, and it allows the ISP to use the existing dial-up infrastructure to authenticate and provide differentiate services.
