Zyxel Networks achieves compliance with EU RED EN 18031 across wireless product portfolio
HSINCHU, Taiwan, August 5, 2025—Zyxel Networks, a leader in delivering secure and AI-powered cloud networking solutions, has achieved full compliance across its wireless product portfolio with the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED) EN 18031 cybersecurity requirements. From wireless access points and secure routers to mobile routers, Zyxel Networks’ wireless solutions now meet the directive’s stringent criteria, which helps protect the data and privacy of small to medium-sized businesses across the globe.

In a move to enhance digital security across the region, the EU now mandates compliance with EN 18031 cybersecurity standards for all wireless and radio equipment sold in the EU. This landmark regulation elevates cybersecurity to the same level of importance as electrical and electromagnetic safety. With over 30 specific security requirements, including secure boot, access control, software update integrity and traffic monitoring, EN 18031 is designed to strengthen protection for users, data and networks alike.
Embedded security
Zyxel Networks is proud to be among the industry’s first vendors to demonstrate portfolio-wide compliance, giving partners and customers confidence that its wireless products are built on a foundation of proactive, embedded security. This achievement underscores its broader commitment to Secure by Design principles.
As part of Zyxel Group, Zyxel Networks supports the Group’s pledge to the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)’s Secure by Design initiative. In alignment with these principles, the company is the first globally to offer multi-factor authentication (MFA) for remote AP users via its Secure WiFi feature. The Group’s leadership in cybersecurity is also reflected in its status as the only vendor in the SMB segment to achieve the highest level of acceptance as a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA), highlighting its contribution to responsible security disclosure and remediation.
Transparent and responsible compliance
“Security has long been central to how we design and deliver our networking solutions,” said Ken Tsai, President of Zyxel Networks. “We fully support the EU’s forward-thinking move, as it aligns with our longstanding vision of safeguarding our customers and partners. This regulation raises the bar for the entire industry, and in doing so, it uplifts the resilience of digital infrastructure not only in the EU, but globally.”
Zyxel Networks’ early compliance reinforces its mission to deliver trusted, secure, high-performance solutions to SMBs navigating an increasingly complex threat landscape. For more information, please visit www.zyxel.com
