Zyxel was founded in Taiwan in 1989 by Dr. Shun-I Chu.  Today the company’s worldwide headquarters is based in Hsinchu Science Park, the “silicon valley” of Taiwan.  North American headquarters is based out of Anaheim, California.  Zyxel distinguishes itself from many competitors by performing its own software engineering rather than outsourcing it to third-party ODMs.  Zyxel’s parent holding company, Unizyx Holding Corporation, has its own manufacturing division and is traded on the Taiwan stock exchange TWSE: 3704.
