ZyXEL ZyWALL Internet Security Gateways Received ICSA Firewall Certification

The ZyWALL Product Group Certified under the 3.0a Firewall Certification Criteria

Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 29, 2002 - ZyXEL Communications Co. (TAI:2391.TW), an innovator and leading provider of broadband access solutions, today announced that its ZyWALL Internet security gateway series has been awarded Firewall certification by ICSA Labs. The ICSA Labs' Certification Program provides assurance to the user community that certified products meet industry-accepted product standards worldwide.

The ZyWALL series includes the ZyWALL 1, 10, 50, and 100, which are scaled to allow telecommuter, home, SOHO, or small business users to purchase a firewall with the exact number of VPN Tunnels. The ZyWALL features robust firewall and Internet content filtering, which allow the products to act as a secure gateway between the Internet and the LAN.

ZyWALL's firewall functionalities include stateful packet inspection and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention. These powerful features prevent unauthorized access, theft, destruction and modification of data from outside hackers. Other powerful features such as IPSec VPN, which use data encryption to provide transparent and secure transmission over the Internet, has been certified by ICSA Labs earlier in May.

ICSA Labs examines and test submitted firewall products under Version 3.0a Firewall Product Certification Criteria of the ICSA Labs Certification Program. The criteria is composed of both functional and assurance requirements, which defines an industry-accepted standard that all products claiming to have firewall capabilities must attain.
