ZyXEL ZyAIR Wireless LAN Products Granted Wi-Fi Interoperability Certification

Hsinchu, Taiwan, November 7, 2002 - ZyXEL Communications Co. (TAI:2391.TW), an innovator and leading provider of broadband access solutions, today announced that its ZyAIR B-2000 wireless LAN (WLAN) gateway, ZyAIR B-1000 Access Point (AP) and ZyAIR B-100 PC Card, have received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance after passing the interoperability test suite at Agilent Technologies' Interoperability Certification Lab (Agilent ICL). The Wi-Fi Alliance certifies interoperability of WLAN products based on the IEEE 802.11b wireless networking specification.

The Agilent ICL is an independent facility where leading vendors of IEEE 802.11b wireless technology test their equipment to ensure interoperability. Products passing the tests are granted a "seal of interoperability" - the Wi-Fi logo, which ensures customers that solutions from different manufacturers are compatible.

"We are very pleased that our ZyAIR wireless LAN products have been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance," said Felix Chang, Product Marketing Director of DSL CPE Business Unit at ZyXEL. "The ZyAIR represents the new standard in wireless networking with its market-leading performance and powerful enterprise-class security. The Wi-Fi seal of approval further assures the end customer of interoperability with other IEEE 802.11b High Rate products which also bear the Wi-Fi logo."
