Hannover, March 22, 2001 -- ZyXEL Communications Co., (TAI: 2391.TW) a pioneer manufacturer and supplier of DSL customer premises equipment (CPE), today announced that it will unveil its latest Multi-Tenant Unit (MTU) solutions at CeBIT 2001 in Hannover from March 22-28 in Hall 11, Stand G29.

MULTIPLE TENANT UNIT (MTU) SOLUTIONS
ZyXEL's MTU solutions include a comprehensive line of universal access concentrators (UAC), and latest InterTenant(TM) Network Solution (ITNS), which support a wide range of IDSL, ADSL, SDSL, VDSL and HomePNA technologies. ZyXEL MTU solutions are highly customizable, providing excellent performance, reliability and scalability, while also maintaining surprising affordability.

Utilizing existing in-building wiring, these solutions are designed specifically for MTU service providers to seize the large, green-field market by offering a sophisticated portfolio of routing, concentration, and powerful network management capabilities along with a wide range of ZyXEL's DSL CPE solutions.

InterTenant(TM) Network Solution
ZyXEL's new InterTenant(tm) Network Solutions is a multi-service platform, which includes the Prestige 1400 high performance WAN router, HomePNA/ADSL/VDSL/SHDSL-Ethernet switches, and complete client side HomePNA/ADSL/VDSL/SHDSL CPE. The solution provides a scalable and flexible platform to deliver complete broadband networking service for today's MTU market.

High Performance WAN Router -- The Prestige 1400
ZyXEL's Prestige 1400 features an integrated 16-port 10/100Mbps virtual LAN (VLAN) Ethernet switch, which allows connection of up to 14 above-mentioned multi-service switches. The VLAN capability isolates each port from one another, hence eliminating the security problems inherent in Ethernet. The Prestige 1400's built-in Ethernet switch also allows direct connection to local application servers such as web, e-mail, video, gaming, building automation servers and so on, without adding an external one.

The Prestige 1400 provides one FlexWAN port, which supports T1/E1 and Frame Relay leased line connection. Moreover, one IP-alias enabled Ethernet port allows connection to broadband DSL and cable modems as WAN link. Coupled with the multi-service switches from ZyXEL, the InterTenant(TM) Network Solution is an ideal broadband access choice deployed at high-density customer location such as large buildings and communities.

ADSL Ethernet Switch -- The AES-100
The AES-100 is a compact and innovative ADSL-Ethernet switch composed of two ADSL network modules. Each ADSL network module provides eight multi-mode ADSL ports with built-in POTS splitter. The AES-100 utilizes an Ethernet port as a backhaul interface to uplink to ZyXEL's Prestige 1400 or a third party router/switch. With SNMP manageability, the AES-100 is ideal for delivering and provisioning high quality broadband services in high rise buildings and communities.

Phoneline Ethernet Switch -- The PES-100
The PES-100 is a powerful and low cost HomePNA network switch which features twelve 1 Mbps HomePNA 1.1 ports and two 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet ports. The PES-100 uses one 10/100M Ethernet port to aggregate all the traffic to ZyXEL's Prestige 1400 or a third party WAN router. The PES-100 offers SNMP manageability and VLAN security, and is ideal for delivering and provisioning a dedicated 1 Mbps bandwidth for fast Internet access.

VDSL Ethernet Switch -- The VES-100
The VES-100 is a compact and high performance VDSL-Ethernet switch. It switches traffic from twelve VDSL lines to dual 10/100M Ethernet networks before it is forwarded to the Internet. Each VDSL line offers up to 12Mbps symmetrical traffic. As VDSL transmits the fastest data rate within a short distance, VES-100 is the best solution to provision bandwidth-consuming applications in MTU environment such as video broadcasting. Similar to ZyXEL's AES-100 and VES-100, the VES-100 provides SNMP manageability and VLAN security.
