ZyXEL Launches Three New IPSec VPN Firewall for Telecommuter, SOHO and SMB
Hsinchu, Taiwan, January 10, 2002 -- ZyXEL Communications Co. (TAI:2391.TW) the world's leading DSL router provider and a pioneer manufacturer of firewall and broadband access devices, today announced the release of three new ZyWALL firewall products to complement the ZyWALL product line. Designed on the same platform as the acclaimed ZyWALL 10, and using the ICSA certified ZyNOS operating system, the ZyWALL 1, ZyWALL 50 and ZyWALL 100 are scaled to allow home or business users to purchase a firewall with the exact number of VPN Tunnels a user requires.
ZyWALL's IPSec VPN uses data encryption to provide transparent and secure transmission over the Internet between two or more sites. Not only does this translate into secure protection for data, it also provides immense cost savings by eliminating costly leased lines. The number of VPN Tunnels offered by ZyWALL corresponds to the model number of each product.
Robust Firewall and Content Filtering
ZyWALL features robust firewall, including stateful packet inspection and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention, as well as Internet content filtering. These powerful features prevent unauthorized access, theft, destruction and modification of data from outside hackers, while effectively monitor and control employees or users who access nonproductive or improper Web content.
"The ZyWALL solution represents a significant cost savings for business users. By removing a leased line between remote offices, and guaranteeing the security of transmission, the products pay for themselves in a short amount of time," said Tony Hsu, vice president of CPE Business Unit at ZyXEL. "A less obvious but equally important benefit is the efficiency the products provide by establishing company Internet protocols, such as limiting Web surfing to increase employee productivity, or limiting the temptation to view questionable content which can result in costly legal problems."
ZyWALL Family - Different Applications, Same Protection
ZyWALL 1 offers 1 IPSec VPN Tunnel, and is designed for telecommuters or home office users to access main office resources and transmit data securely. When installed, the ZyWALL 1 protects personal passwords, credit cards and account information from hackers making it a powerful and economic solution, ideal for 1-5 LAN users.
ZyWALL 10, the first product in the series to be released, has gained attention as a powerful SOHO solution capable of providing essential security for branch or remote offices that conduct critical business over the Internet. ZyWALL 10 features 10 IPSec VPN tunnels and is ideal for 5-25 LAN users.
ZyWALL 50 and ZyWALL 100 are the two business-class security gateways designed to service the small to medium sized businesses with 50 and 100 IPSec VPN. The ZyWALL 50 and ZyWALL 100 are recommended for 100 and 500 business users to provide complete security solutions and to protect users' office Intranets while efficiently managing data on the network.
Additionally, a DMZ (De-Militarized Zone) port on the ZyWALL 100 allows users on the Internet to access information on multiple public servers, such as web or mail servers, while maintaining the security of the private LAN. An RS-232 WAN port allows the user to connect to a modem/TA as a dial backup if the broadband access circuit breaks up.
