ZyXEL IES-5000 IP DSLAM Receives NEBS Certification
Hsinchu, November 27, 2006 -- After successfully obtained the Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) certification for its IES-1248 remote IP DSALM in July, ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE:2391) today announced that its 6.5U Central Office IP DSLAM (IES-5000) has been successfully certified by NEBS as well. With its non-blocking Gigabit backplane, failover-enabled management features and versatile subscriber interfaces, ZyXEL IES-5000 IP DSLAM is suitable for Telco/ISP to deliver high-quality broadband service to today's residential and business customers.

NEBS contains the most common set of safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to telecommunications equipment in the United States. NEBS tests include GR-63-CORE, GR-1089-CORE and SBC TP76200 for evaluating and measuring environmental, safety, and quality standards of telecommunications equipment regarding product functionalities.
To successfully obtain the certification, ZyXEL IES-5000 IP DSLAM had to undergo a range of stringent tests, including electro-magnetic emissions, fire spread testing, power consumption, earthquake simulation as well as thermal and mechanical shocks.
