ZyXEL Unveils P-791R v2, the Next-Generation G.SHDSL.bis Router
Hsinchu, Taiwan, June 11, 2007 -- ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE:2391), the world's largest residential gateway provider (In-Stat, 2006), today announced the release of its high-performance P-791R v2 G.SHDSL.bis router. With the advanced G.SHDSL.bis technology, the P-791R v2 offers data transmission rates of up to 5.69 Mbps, empowering small and medium businesses to access the Internet, as well as to establish LAN-to-LAN and point-to-point network connections between remote offices. The Fail-Over and Fall–Back WAN Backup features ensure the availability of Internet connections and lower maintenance costs.
"Comparing to previous generations of G.SHDSL products, ZyXEL P-791R v2 features 5.69Mbps high speed symmetric data transmission," said Albert Ju, Senior Assistant VP of CPE Business Unit. "With competitive cost-of-ownership and hassle-free installation and configuration, the P-791R v2 is an easy-to-use and affordable alternative to leased lines."
The P-791R v2 takes advantage of the latest G.SHDSL.bis technology and provides an ideal high-speed alternative to replace traditional expensive leased-line services. The new router allows small/medium businesses to access the Internet or use LAN-to-LAN application over existing copper lines. The P-791R v2 takes full advantage of the advanced G.SHDSL.bis technology to offer users Internet access for surfing, video conferencing, file sharing and interactive gaming.
With the fail-over and fall-back WAN backup features, the P-791R v2 provides worry-free reliability. When the DSL connection is down, the P-791R v2 automatically forwards traffic to either a backup ISDN or an analog modem to ensure availability. When the DSL connection is re-established again, traffic will be fully restored and transmitted through the DSL connection. The P-791R v2 also provides WAN connection backup by redirecting traffic to a specific gateway to ensure availability of Internet connection. The WAN backup feature reduces device maintenance cost and minimizes potential business loss.
The P-791R v2 is designed with the users in mind for fast installation and easy deployment. The router features web-based configuration screens that are user-friendly and intuitive. The P-791R v2 supports UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) discovery and UPnP NAT traversal to establish a LAN connection, acquire an IP address and communicate with other network devices unattended. By using the standard TCP/IP protocol, the P-791R v2 can dynamically join a network, obtain an IP address, convey its capabilities and learn about other devices on a network.
