ZyXEL Unveils Major Firmware Upgrade to ZyWALL 1050 Internet Security Appliance

Engineered to provide a variety of security services on top of a robust, hardware-accelerated platform to security-aware businesses, ZyWALL 1050 integrates both IPSec VPN and SSL VPN technologies to allow the establishment of Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections among multiple locations such as remote branch offices, business partner sites and even remote workers connected to hotel hotspots.

The Kaspersky Labs-powered Anti-Virus service on ZyWALL 1050 has the world's shortest response time to help keeping viruses/malwares out of corporate networks; and the built-in SecuASIC co-processor also enables ZyWALL 1050 to deliver robust and reliable performance even under heavy networking loads. Through the AppPatrol dashboard, security staff can easily create fine-grained access policies to identify and restrict access levels of IM/P2P protocols for different groups of users, enforce bandwidth quota against certain P2P types and prioritize VoIP traffics to ensure the best call quality. With ZyWALL 1050, security staff can allocate bandwidth for a variety of applications or hosts, and keep track of bandwidth usage with comprehensive statistical reports.
The High Availability features of ZyWALL 1050 create a highly reliable and secure network infrastructure to minimize the impact of single-point failures and assure network availability. On the WAN side, the ZyWALL 1050 can connect multiple ISP links to ensure Internet availability in case a single ISP link becomes unreliable. The multiple-WAN load-balancing feature can also optimize the bandwidth usage over each ISP link.
