ZyXEL Prestige 792H G.SHDSL Security Gateway Fortifies SMB Broadband Environments

Hsinchu, May 10, 2004-- ZyXEL Communications (TSE:2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today announces its Prestige 792H G.SHDSL Security Gateway. Prestige 792H integrates a symmetrical DSL port, a 4-port switch, firewall and VPN features for mid-sized businesses to access Internet, establish remote LAN-to-LAN or point-to-point connections with rock-solid security protection.

The firewall function of ZyXEL Prestige 792H incorporates Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Denial of Service Attack (DoS) Prevention, Packet Filtering, Content Filtering and Real-time Attack Alert and Logs. It also provides 10 IPSec VPN tunnels with DES/3DES encryption for reliable and efficient connection between remote user, or office, and corporate headquarters.

Prestige 792H supports symmetrical, multiple transfer rates up to 2.3Mbps. To ensure High Availability, Prestige 792H provides a Dial-Backup Port with Fail-over and fall-back function to re-route the network traffic to alternative conduits such as ISDN TA, analog modem, or other routers on the LAN for Internet access, in instance of DSL service interruption.

In response to the phenomenal growth of media applications, an upgrade to Prestige 792H firmware will be offered in the third quarter to support Media Bandwidth Management (MBM) function, with which users can configure guaranteed bandwidth and maximum bandwidth, or prioritize tasks for the best performance and QoS of media applications such as VoIP or video conference.
