ZyXEL Introduces P-334WHD 802.11g Wireless Firewall Router with Dial-Backup

Reliable Wireless Firewall Router for Multimedia Applications

Hsinchu, November 14, 2006 -- ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE: 2391), the world's largest residential gateway provider (In-State, 2006), today unveils its P-334WHD high power wireless router for home and small office users. ZyXEL P-334WHD boasts high-speed wireless connection using the IEEE 802.11g standard. This allows for fast Internet connection, file transfer and smooth online gaming and video streaming. In case the DSL connection is down, users can still access the Internet using the embedded analog modem built-in to the P-334WHD.

With the single, high-gain amplifier built into the device, the transmission power of P-334WHD can be enhanced to 60% over standard 802.11g wireless routers. By providing  an effective outdoor range of up to 2000 feet, the P-334WHD can be placed anywhere to extend wireless network coverage and ensure a dead spot free wireless connection.

For better network reliability, the P-334WHD comes with an embedded analog modem to provide an alternative WAN connection when needed.  The Fail-Over and Fail-Back features allow the P-334WHD to redirect outgoing traffic to the backup modem in case the WAN connection is down. Once the WAN connection is  reestablished again, traffic automatically goes through the broadband connection. This helps maintenance efforts, IT costs and eliminate losses due to disrupted business operation.

The P-334WHD supports the Media Bandwidth Management v2 (MBM v2) feature to provide the ability to fine tune bandwidth-sensitive network applications such as VoIP, online gaming or P2P sharing. The ZyXEL-exclusive MBM technology gives users the power to prioritize tasks or allocate certain bandwidth to designated applications.

The P-334WHD is a powerful firewall that provides enterprise-class security. Security features include Denial of Service (DoS) protection and Intrusion Detection using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI); URL access and content filtering, logging, reporting, real-time alerts, as well as VPN pass-through to maximize network security.
