ZyXEL Introduces NetAtlas Workgroup Network Management Software

Offering Intelligent Centralized Network Status Monitoring and Maintenance Capabilities

Hsinchu, May 10, 2006--ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today unveils its ZyXEL NetAtlas Workgroup centralized network management software tool designed for small- to medium-sized businesses. NetAtlas Workgroup is capable of administrating up to 150 ZyXEL managed Ethernet switches with its graphical user interface and versatile maintenance tools, which assist network administrators to perform monitoring, maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting tasks on remote ZyXEL managed switches effortlessly. With NetAtlas Workgroup, small- to medium-sized businesses will be empowered to elevate network stability, service quality and manageability to a satisfying level through minimum efforts and costs.

"Centralized network management is the key to the streamlined processes for better efficiency and service quality that boost competitive advantage in turn," said Alpha Chen, Assistant VP of ZyXEL's SMB and Consumer Business Unit. "On large corporation networks, the ZyXEL NetAtlas Enterprise EMS supports 10 concurrent administrators to control up to 500 ZyXEL managed switches in different locations remotely. In smaller businesses with relatively limited IT resources, the intuitive GUI and systematic management tools of ZyXEL NetAtlas Workgroup will enable one staff to control as many as 150 ZyXEL managed Ethernet switches. The dynamic real-time monitoring and maintenance will cost SMBs much less to keep up with the competition needs."

For daily traffic monitoring and analysis, NetAtlas Workgroup can keep its eyes on the data flowing through ZyXEL managed switches, then export statistics charts and reports for administrators to analyze the traffic distribution and trend for organizations to improve their network services accordingly.

On network monitoring and management, NetAtlas Workgroup collects real-time SNMP Traps from ZyXEL managed switches, and highlights the incidents with different colors on screen according to prioritization levels defined by administrators. With the clear notification, administrators can immediately respond to and resolve the incidents to maintain the service quality. In addition, the eccentric network events can be logged into a database for future study.

For system maintenance tasks, NetAtlas Workgroup has been equipped with comprehensive system tools for IT staff to keep the whole system up and running with least effort. Tasks such as switch firmware update, backup setting, time setting, loopback test and system maintenance scheduling can be achieved by just a few mouse clicks. The administrators can choose from port-based or system-wide methods to configure Layer2/Layer3 features such as VLAN, QoS and network security online. NetAtlas Workgroup users can even save frequently used settings for future retrieval, which boosts productivity by saving time rebuilding those configurations.

On the security management front, NetAtlas Workgroup offers strictly tiered privilege classification, as well as confidential information and system configuration management that allow only authorized personnel to access or modify sensitive data. All system access and alteration activities will be recorded for tracking and reference.
