ZyXEL Introduces First ISDN Terminal Adapter with LCD and Caller ID Support

Hannover, Germany, March 19, 1998 - The omni.net LCD ISDN Internet solution, a new value-priced ISDN access product designed with extensive built-in telecommunications features not found in comparable consumer products, was announced today by ZyXEL Communications.

With an extensive feature set unlike other terminal adapters and modems currently on the market, the new omni.net LCD provides unprecedented speed in accessing the Internet. Unique to the omni.net LCD are features including DTE speeds of up to 460.8Kbps, auto dial-in and dial-out protocol detection, Stac compression and V.42bis data compression over ISDN which combine to provide high-speed Web browsing and fast and easy downloading files, including video and high-quality graphics.

LCD Display to add Convenience and Control
ZyXEL's omni.net LCD is the industry's first ISDN terminal adapter to provide an 20x2 LCD display panel which will allow for easy configuration and detailed status monitoring during regular use. With help from the graphical user interface (GUI) configuration manager, the omni.net LCD can also be easily configured from a Windows 95/NT system. The LCD screen will display the caller ID and allow the user to monitor the charge information and call-in and call-out history. Featuring a user friendly design the omni.net LCD allows the user to easily view the usage status while the connection is taking place.

Two Analog Ports with Caller ID support
Featured in the omni.net LCD are two analog ports which allow simultaneous use of two analog devices such as telephones, modems and fax machines. For example, users may send an e-mail while talking on the phone, or cruise the Web while sending a fax.

The caller ID feature of the omni.net LCD enables you to connect the caller ID box or any phone with caller ID display screen into the analog ports of the omni.net LCD. With this feature the user can read the callers information even if the phone is distant from the omni.net.

Full Support for Supplementary Phone Services
Taking full advantage of the supplementary services offered by many ISDN service carriers, the ZyXEL omni.net LCD provides special analog port features such as intercom, call waiting, three-way conferencing, global reception, incoming and outgoing call history, speed dial and last number redial. Other supported phone features are:

- Call Hold and Retrieve
- Multiple Subscriber Number (MSN) Subaddress
- Advice of Charge
- Calling Line Identification
- Call Line Identification Restriction
- Call Forwarding
- Terminal Portability
