ZyXEL IES-1248 ADSL2+ IP DSLAM Achieved NEBS Certification
Hsinchu, August 28, 2006 -- ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE:2391), the world’s leading broadband access solutions provider, today announced that it has successfully obtained the Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) certification for ZyXEL IES-1248, 48-port stand-alone ADSL2+ IP DSLAM. ZyXEL IES-1248, with its powerful QoS and comprehensive management features and temperature-hardened design, is suitable in remote offices, street cabinets or building basements for easy ADSL deployment and expanding user coverage.

NEBS contains the most common set of safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to telecommunications equipment in the United States. NEBS tests include GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE, evaluating and measuring environmental, safety, and quality standards of telecommunications equipment regarding product functionalities.
To successfully obtain the certification, ZyXEL IES-1248 had to undergo a range of stringent tests, including electro-magnetic emissions, safety, power consumption, earthquake simulation and thermal and mechanical shock.
About ZyXEL IES-1248 IP DSLAM
Specifically designed to meet today’s requirement of distributed telco FTTx infrastructure, ZyXEL IES-1248 series is an 1.5U, 48-port stand-alone temperature-hardened ADSL2+ IP DSLAM with a built-in splitter. Two combo GbE uplink ports providing 1000Mbps RJ-45 copper or SFP fiber interfaces to support flexible deployment in a ring or tree topology.
The IES-1248 is designed for compactness, low power consumption, flexible network management features and is integrated with existing platforms. In addition, with superb service-aware IP features, such as QoS, IGMP Snooping, IGMP Proxy, Multicast VLAN Registration, and DHCP option 82, the IES-1248 is proven to assist service providers in seamless migration from the current HSIA to triple-play services at competitive CAPEX and OPEX.
