ZyXEL Announces ZyXEL P-2302 R/RL-P Series VoIP Station Gateway for Internet Access and Feature-Rich Phone Communication at Home

Hsinchu, July 18, 2006 -- ZyXEL Communications (TSE:2391), the world's leading DSL router provider, today announced its new  P-2302R/RL-P series VoIPATA/station gateway designed for telcos and IP telephony service providers (ITSP). With integrated broadband sharing gateway and two POTS ports for VoIP applications over the Internet, the P-2302R/RL-P series allows multiple home users to enjoy high-speed Internet access while meeting VoIP application demands through existing DSL/Cable modem.

The P-2302 R/RL-P series is an affordable, easy-to-use VoIP station gateway for broadband users connecting to the Internet or a local area network. Depending on their needs, users can easily configure the P-2302R/RL-P series in routing/bridge mode using the intuitive WebGUI. The P-2302R/RL-P series supports open SIP v2 (Session Initiation Protocol, RFC 3261) to ensure interoperability with other SIP-based equipments.

The P-2302 R/RL-P series supports Multiple Channel Technology and multiple SIP phone numbers. The two built-in FXS POTS interface serves two communication lines simultaneously; and its G.729 support on each phone port is best suited in environments with limited bandwidth. This flexible dial mechanism allows users to freely assign one or two communication lines to the two phone ports.

ZyXEL P-2302 R/RL-P series enriches user's communication experience with a number of sophisticated call features. Features such as call forwarding, call transfer, three way conference call, etc. are provided through the WebGUI or by using the keypad.

The P-2302 R/RL-P series enables network administrators to allocate network resources while guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS). Network Bandwidth Management enhances productivity and efficiency by tailoring a system to specific demands such as time-sensitive VoIP and multimedia applications. In addition, the P-2302 R/RL-P series secures users' networks with its SPI Firewall and DoS (Denial of Service) protection. The state-of-the-art security mechanism provides the first line of defense against hackers, network intruders, and other malicious threats.

ZyXEL P-2302 R/RL-P series facilitates service providers to manage and configure the device remotely through ZyXEL's Easy Provisioning Management using TR-104. Through this mechanism, provisioning parameters define a VoIP CPE device's provisioning data model established by an Auto-configuration Server (ACS). ZyXEL's TR-104 management solution is tailored to meet the service provider's needs.  This function helps to significantly decrease installation and management costs.

The ZyXEL P-2302R/RL-P series is currently available. The added Lifeline support on the P-2302RL-P allows users to make regular phone calls in case of an unexpected power failure.
