ZyXEL Announces World's First 802.11g Wireless Gigabit Router to Support WPA2 and WMM

ZyXEL P-364W Makes the Most of Wireless Security and Wireless QoS

Hsinchu, March 9, 2005--ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), the world's largest DSL router provider, today announces ZyXEL P-364W, the world's first Gigabit router to support WPA2 and WMM, will be demonstrated at the CeBIT Show (Hall 15 C05). Pumping data with Gigabit performance, ZyXEL P-364W combines the hottest 802.11i WPA2 wireless encryption and Wi-Fi certified multimedia bandwidth management that empower homes or small offices to enjoy the superior speed and quality of the "Triple Play" applications.

"Lately, new features like Media Bandwidth Management (MBM) and network security have become so popular in small gateways," indicates Johnson Lee, Product Manager of ZyXEL's Consumer Business Line. "As wireless connectivity becomes prevalent, ZyXEL P-364W is the first router to satisfy the home and small office needs for these features with WPA2 and WMM support. Further, the Gigabit throughput of the P-364W accelerates the data access and multimedia performance in multi-user environments, which eliminates media playback lags."

MBM is the most noteworthy feature of ZyXEL P-364W that prioritize the bandwidths for Web services, or block certain services to reduce the traffic. The arrangement helps home or small office networks running competing applications to have the best bandwidth utilization. P-364W also supports IEEE 802.11e Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) standard, which allows users to allocate more network resource under WLAN to preferred video or voice services for a better experience.

For homes and small offices with limited network security resource, ZyXEL P-364W offers complete firewall functionalities like SPI and DoS/DDoS; and it supports two IPSec VPN tunnels for safe remote data connections. Moreover, the built-in TMSS (Trend Micro Home Network Security Services) with antivirus, vulnerability assessment, and dynamic content filtering features can safeguard homes and small offices for their security and content decency.

On the WLAN security front, ZyXEL P-364W supports wireless encryption schemes like Wi-Fi WPA & WPA2, as well as 256-bit WEP to ensure the highest level of protection. Claimed "two generations beyond WEP", WPA2 is the latest industrial-strength AES encryption technology to prevent illegitimate users from tapping the wireless network.

In addition, ZyXEL P-364W offers OTIST (One-Touch Intelligent Security Technology) button on its back panel, enabling the P-364W to establish WPA-PSK secure connection with other ZyXEL OTIST-capable wireless cards. With a Web interface in six languages, it's very easy for users everywhere to configure ZyXEL P-364W in a snap.
