OnSite Technology Services and ZyXEL Announce Strategic Partnership for Deploying Broadband in MDU Properties

Aliso Viejo, CA, June 13, 2001 - OnSite Technology Services, a broadband technology company for owners of apartments, and their tenants, today announced a strategic partnership with ZyXEL, a leading manufacturer of broadband access devices and in-building access concentrators. The partnership will allow OnSite Technology Services to provide affordable broadband data services to apartment property owners and tenants by using ZyXEL's products which take advantage of existing copper wires, thus lowering the infrastructure cost of delivering high speed internet access to building tenants.

ZyXEL's technology is a key component in OnSite's strategy to Internet enable Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) properties with a variety of broadband technologies. "When we work with owners of buildings our approach is not to sell or install a specific technology. Our goal is to review the building and determine the best method for economically delivering quality broadband services," says Scott Nichols, Founder, President and CTO of Onsite Technology Services. "ZyXEL has a family of products that allows us to fit the technology to the site. This is critical to our business model. Picking the right technology, picking the right projects, and maintaining costs is cornerstone to our approach for returning revenues to our real estate partners."

ZyXEL's product line includes the Prestige 1400, which is a router, access concentrator, and managed Ethernet switch. Supporting the Prestige 1400, AES-100 (ADSL), PES-100 (Home PNA) and VES-100 (VDSL), SES-100 (G.SHDSL) modules; are products for delivering xDSL technologies over standard copper wires. OnSite Technology Services is currently deploying ZyXEL equipment for apartment complexes in San Francisco and Los Angeles. These initial projects will provide service for over 1000 apartment suites. Broadband access from OnSite Technology Services provides aggregated subscription over T1 lines, providing speeds from 1.1 to 1.544 Mbps. Differing from typical DSL provided by a LEC or from Cable Modem access, OnSite Technology Services uses corporate grade T1 circuits for last mile connectivity. A typical monthly subscriber fee for T1 access from OnSite Technology Services is $49 a month.
OnSite Technology Services and ZyXEL will also be partnering during June 14-16 at the National Apartments Association trade show in Las Vegas Nevada, and can be visited in booth #1314.
