Metro Ethernet Forum Certifies ZyXEL as one of Leading Companies in Carrier Ethernet Services

ZyXEL ES-3124 Series Have Been Certified as MEF-9 and MEF-14 Compliant

Hsinchu, Taiwan, September 6, 2007  -- ZyXEL Communications Corp. (TSE:2391), the world's largest gateway provider (In-Stat, 2006), today announced that ZyXEL Access Switches  ES-3124 series is aligned with the carrier-class standards for Ethernet Private Line (EPL) of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and has been certified as MEF-9 and MEF-14 compliant.
MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) is a non- profit organization with over 120 active members spanning the globe, representing all Carrier Ethernet industry groups. Members include leading network equipment and test equipment venders, service providers, OSS companies, certification labs and telecommunications system integrators. It develops technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide. The MEF-9 certification is a formal validation of conformance with MEF's Ethernet services standards and equipments when deployed at the UNI (User Networking Interface) and the MEF-14 certification focuses on traffic management. Members and certification receivers of MEF can take active roles in standardizing and preparing for wide-area Ethernet networking and also gain the industry positioning as well as credibility.
