ZyXEL Stresses No Shellshock Vulnerability in its Gateways and Broadband & Connectivity Products

Oct. 3, 2014 – Hsinchu, Taiwan – ZyXEL Communications, the world’s leading provider of networking communications products, would like to reassure its customers that ZyXEL Gateways and Broadband and Connectivity products are not at risk from the Shellshock vulnerability affecting Linux and Unix Bash shells disclosed on the 24th of September 2014.

We are aware of the serious damage caused by Shellshock and continue to work hard to ensure the best protection and solutions are provided to our customers. Specifically, ZyXEL will release a new patch and update online by the 7th of October for WLAN Controllers (the NXC Series), WLAN APs (the NWA3000-N Series), and WLAN APs (the NWA5000-N Series) to ease customer concern about the attacks.

ZyXEL will continue to monitor the Shellshock’s impact and provide the latest updates to our customers when necessary. For optimal network security, ZyXEL recommends that customers limit access over protected networks and only issue login access to trusted members.
