ZyXEL Expands Its Residential & Enterprise Small Cell Portfolio

The ZyXEL lineup of small cell CPE products enables 3G and 4G infrastructures to efficiently deliver exceptional mobile coverage and capacity across residential and enterprise locations.

According to a recent GSMA report, there were 3.6 billion unique mobile subscribers worldwide at the end of 2014 – meaning half of the world’s population has a mobile subscription. With increasing subscriber numbers and data usage, mobile traffic is expected to grow tenfold by 2019. For today’s mobile operators, relying solely upon traditional macro towers is no longer sufficient.
An alternative option is to utilize targeted coverage solutions with small cells that operators can deploy with residential and enterprise customers. To facilitate this, ZyXEL has introduced a comprehensive portfolio of small cell CPE supporting Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G.
The FMT3211 and FMT3251 are residential small cells supporting 3G (UMTS), and the FMT3251’s additional 11ac Wi-Fi enables operators to extend 3G coverage. The LMT3313 is a PoE (Power over Ethernet) based small cell that supports 4G LTE with 3GPP release 9 compliance and VoLTE (Voice over LTE) functionality, which requires no additional electrical wiring to extend 4G coverage to targeted locations — be it at home, in the office or public areas — for up to 32 users.
