ZyXEL MAX-206M2 Device is a 4G Modem/Router Designed to Deliver High Speed Internet Access Wirelessly with Built-in Residential Gateway Functions in an Elegant Form Factor

Hsinchu, Taiwan, October 9, 2008-- ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today debuts its WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) for commercial use with the launch of Sprint's (NYSE:S) highly anticipated XOHM™ WiMAX service. ZyXEL joins Sprint's WiMAX ecosystem partners in helping incorporate mobile WiMAX technology in a range of computing, portable multimedia, interactive and other business and consumer devices.

ZyXEL's IEEE802.16e mobile WiMAX solution is the first standard-based Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) solution providing true mobility and end-to end Quality of Service (QoS) for emerging VoIP and triple-play multimedia applications. ZyXEL's WiMAX products are currently at use in more than 90 field-trials/deployments worldwide. ZyXEL has also been a major contributor for the M-Taiwan project, a nationwide WiMAX deployment in Taiwan featuring its 2.5GHz micro-base stations, Element Management Systems (EMS) and ASN gateways for a total end-to-end solution.

Sprint's XOHM 4G wireless broadband network is designed to mobilize the Internet, bringing wireless innovation to devices and new multimedia mobile applications to customers. Sprint is debuting XOHM commercially in Baltimore, as the first major U.S. city to receive Mobile WiMAX service.

The MAX-206M2 gateway comes with dual 5dBi gain antenna integrated into the device with 27dBm output power and a built-in ICSA certified firewall. Its versatile design, including two VoIP ATA ports, ensures carriers that their investments in mobile WiMAX devices will provide the maximum added-on values for even more applications. ZyXEL's MAX-206 series CPEs are the world's first WiMAX Forum certified mobile devices that provide the highest link budget while WiMAX networks are still in the early stage of deployment.
