2FA provides added peace of mind for admins and users

Cybercriminals will infiltrate networks in whatever way they can, and that includes going through the management platform. This is one of the reasons why, with the launch of our new USG FLEX H series in April, we introduced two-factor authentication (2FA) for our Nebula cloud management platform.

Administrators who are logging onto Nebula to monitor and manage USG FLEX H series firewalls, will now need to go through a two-step process to authenticate their identity. We’ve introduced 2FA at the admin level to ensure that, as the use of Nebula grows, it’s virtually impossible for anyone other than authorized admins and engineers to access the central control panel.

We’ve also introduced 2FA for WiFi users logging in via the sign-in page (or captive portal) on Nebula-managed access points. We’ve done this by making use of the Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory), identity and access management service, which makes the whole process very simple.

While these new 2FA features were only part of the USG FLEX H series announcement, they are worthy of note. Identity theft is a major issue and by adding 2FA both for Nebula administration and for WiFi log-ins, we are providing an extra layer of security that will make networks managed using Nebula even harder.

It’s another small but highly significant improvement that, along with the many others we have already introduced and continue to develop, means you can rely on Zyxel Networks to provide the solid network protection you need.
