Help From the Cloud Means Italian Parish Can Keep Serving Community

Providing the public as many services as it does, the Mater Amabilis pastoral community had substantial needs in network connectivity, management, and security. Wireless coverage was required for events in the chapel, for guests attending parish activities, and for the parish’s administrative work. In addition, separate networks were wanted to ensure data security while also centralizing the network’s management in order to allow the easy control of switches, the wired network, and the CCTV system. Zyxel NSW200 cloud-managed switches were installed to support the dozen-plus telephones and many video intercoms, with GS1920 switches used to manage the network. Next, NSG50 and NSG100 firewalls were deployed to secure internet access via content filtering, with a VPN unifying network management and allowing remote access. This also means Nebula firewalls and APs can be deployed quickly, easily, and remotely. Finally, the wireless network was separated with VLAN and different SSIDs, ensuring data security and GDPR compliance. Zyxel’s network solution now allows the parish to operate smarter, like through access badges and by controlling its boiler remotely. The improvements extend to the IP security cameras, which now have no streaming latency thanks to the significantly improved data speeds.
