Zyxel Networks given Champion rankings for firewalls and VPNs in latest techconsult security survey

Research is based on real user experiences and focuses on user-friendliness, reliability and functionality of products.

Wokingham, UK, May 12, 2025 — Zyxel Networks’ firewall and VPN products have been awarded Champion status in the latest Professional User Ratings (PUR) survey covering security solutions from techconsult – the renowned independent German research and analysis organisation, and part of the Heise Group.

More than 4,500 security experts from user organisations took part in techconsult’s Professional User Rating: Security Solutions 2025 survey. They were asked to rate products and services in a number of areas, with vendors subsequently ranked on the basis of their Solution/Technology Excellence and Company Excellence.

To qualify as a techconsult Champion, products must receive high rankings for both Solution/Technology Excellence ratings and Company Excellence. Zyxel Networks was one of nine vendors to achieve the top Champion status in the Network Firewall category, and one of only seven to attain this level for VPN solutions.

Zyxel Networks’ firewalls were rated highly for their user-friendliness and reliability and also received high marks for overall functionality and compliance. Zyxel Networks achieved the highest ranking for customer satisfaction in the overall Company Rating for network firewall, and users also gave Zyxel Networks high marks for the support and technical competency of its consultants and partners and continuous product improvement.

Similarly, Zyxel Networks’ VPN solutions were highly rated for their performance, usability and benefits, and for their innovative features and customization capabilities. Zyxel Networks was praised for its exceptional service and support on VPN and its competent partner network. Overall, Zyxel Networks gained the highest satisfaction ratings in both the Company and Solutions ratings for the VPN category.

For the techconsult report, a network firewall is defined as any solution, hardware, software or cloud-based, that can be assigned to protecting a network. A VPN is defined as all solutions that are capable of establishing a secure, virtual private network connection between the endpoint and the central company network.

Vendors are shown within a ‘PUR diamond’ that visually depicts their ranking according to customer ratings of both products and services. The survey is carried out using criteria that explore performance, functionality, user-friendliness, user satisfaction and other capabilities. Only vendors for which a sufficient number of positive interviews are received are included. The latest techconsult PUR diamond for network firewall includes 23 vendors with 21 companies included in the VPN report.
