Position Overview
Zyxel Communications, a leading supplier of secure broadband networking and Internet
connectivity & routing products for Broadband Service Providers, is seeking a highly
experienced General Accountant (8+ years) with deep expertise in accounting, reporting, and
compliance within the telecommunications industry.
This role uniquely integrates accounting with HR functions, requiring strong capabilities in
payroll reconciliation, benefits accounting, labor law compliance, and employee cost reporting.
The General Accountant will ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and unified
collaboration with HR to support Zyxel’s strategic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in
compliance with GAAP/IFRS. - Oversee successful month-end and quarter-end closings (balance sheet, income statement,
and cash flow). - Manage general ledger accounting for company expenses, payroll, and HR-related accounts.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory updates, company policies and best
practices. - Coordinate internal and external audits with strong documentation and audit-ready processes.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and provide quarterly management reports.
- Partner with department managers to ensure all active projects are supported by valid,
binding contracts. - Manage customer communications regarding past-due invoices and collections.
Key HR Collaboration Responsibilities
- Lead payroll audits and reconciliations; validate salary accruals; ensure accurate wage,
overtime, and bonus accounting in compliance with federal and state labor laws. - Review travel, expense, and reimbursement policies for compliance and accuracy.
- Partner with HR to integrate headcount and labor cost reporting into financial statements.
- Support leadership in budgeting and forecasting HR costs (payroll, benefits, training,
workforce initiatives).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA, CA, or ACCA (certification or candidate preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least years in compliance
(telecommunications industry preferred). - Proven expertise in payroll audits, labor law compliance, and benefits accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains and HR/payroll platforms (Paychex, TriNet,
or equivalent). - Strong command of GAAP/IFRS and reporting standards.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
(Excel, Word). - Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information, lead process improvements, and
oversee multiple projects simultaneously. - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience collaborating with HR, Legal, and Compliance teams on workforce policies.
- Leadership potential with ability to mentor Accounting Associate team or support team
development.
