Fiber OLTs/ONTs

Zyxel’s End-to-End Fiber Access Solutions support GPON, 10G PON, active fiber, and future-proof software-defined access technologies. Integrated in-home software cuts CAPEX and significantly reduces long-term OPEX, giving service providers a smarter path to fiber deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

An Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is a high-capacity fiber-optic network device that acts as the central element in a Passive Optical Network (PON) and it connects to multiple Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) at the customer premises.

An Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the device located with the customer, and it acts as the endpoint of the fiber network, essentially interfaces directly with the local network devices such as routers or computers.

Those two devices are part of the service provider network, the OLT is the ISP’s centralized device controlling the fiber network, while the ONT is the customer's side device that terminates the fiber connection.

Zyxel’s OLTs/ONTs let service providers avoid vendor lock in, cut costs, and stay flexible. By meeting ITU T G.984, G.9807, G.988 and TR 247, the service provider can mix and match equipment freely, easing upgrades and scaling. Zyxel’s regular firmware updates and rigorous testing keep the network reliable and future proof.
