Why Zyxel Networks switches will soon be giving you even more bandwidth

We don’t need to tell you that the demand for bandwidth is growing all the time. And as we use richer applications and services at the edge of the network, we put more strain on the backbone. For example, if you have scores of devices connecting to a set of access points plugged into a managed switch through 2.5Gbps ports, and multiple logged-in users making use of video conferencing simultaneously, you will generate a lot of traffic on the network core.

You can easily see how, under such circumstances, a single 10Gbps uplink might not be enough. Instead, you will probably need to have multiple connections to the backbone infrastructure. In the end, the sheer weight of traffic could become too much for the network, which is why Zyxel Networks will soon be introducing switches that can provide 25Gbps of bandwidth at the core.

We expect to have the first of these devices available towards the end of this year or early in 2025 – and you’ll see us press on and go even further next year, launching 25Gbps and 100Gbps switches. This will extend the power and reach of Zyxel Networks switches further than ever before and give our customers and partners the opportunity to use our technologies right across the network infrastructure, with management and control centralised through the Nebula cloud platform.

The next 18 months promise to be exciting. While we’ll be making announcements in due course, if you’d like to hear more about our plans, please contact your nearest Zyxel Networks office or your local authorised partner.
