“Go 30, Beyond Possibility”: Zyxel celebrates three decades of innovation
The networking technology leader reflects on its history of firsts and foresees a future of boundless potential
Hsinchu, Taiwan, 16 August 2019—Today Zyxel celebrates its 30th anniversary with an array of festivities at its headquarters in Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan. In the years since Zyxel’s 1989 inception, the enterprise has grown into a group of networking subsidiaries under the parent company Unizyx Holding Corp: Zyxel Communications, Zyxel Networks, MitraStar Technology, ZyFlex Technologies, and Ardomus Networks. All Unizyx employees will take part in the celebration, which follows the theme “Go 30, Beyond Possibility” and kicks off a series of product promotions and social media campaigns around the world.
Like the legendary garage startups of America’s Silicon Valley, Unizyx was born in a modest apartment in Taoyuan, Taiwan. In the summer of 1989, a time when the internet was still in its infancy, Dr. Shun-I Chu founded Zyxel, foreseeing the tremendous business opportunities in the networking market. Fueled by a passion for technological innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. Chu created the world’s first three-in-one modem with integrated data, fax, and voice. The landmark technology, which was developed in just over two years, stunned the world.
For the last 30 years, Unizyx companies have made it a mission to continually expand their international scope. With world-class R&D and cutting-edge technology, as evidenced by a mastery of dial-up, fixed broadband, fiber broadband, and mobile broadband technologies, Unizyx has left an indelible imprint in 150 regional markets around the globe. The holding company has also broadened its customer base to include small to medium-sized businesses as well as home users.
Unizyx is the first company in Taiwan to successfully develop cloud networking (Nebula) and software-defined wide area network (Nebula SD-WAN) solutions, showing the world how Taiwanese network technology can help SMBs accelerate digital transformation. Additionally, the company has applied its technological expertise in the field of security, and is one of the few manufacturers in Taiwan capable of developing network firewalls and security services.
Recently, Unizyx products have been recognized by a number of prestigious international design awards, such as the iF Design Award (Germany), the Red Dot Award (Germany), and the Good Design Award (Japan). The honors do more than reflect the company’s commitment to anticipating rapidly evolving user needs. They serve as proof that Unizyx—by marrying technological innovation with intuitive aesthetics—is changing the world.
“The 30th anniversary is a very important milestone,” said Gordon Yang, CEO of Unizyx. “The key to Unizyx’s success over the last 30 years is teamwork. We have an abundance of intelligence and creativity, but it’s our ability to work together in harmony that has allowed us to attain greatness. Ever since the first days in Dr. Chu’s apartment, the company has remained true to its five core values: customer-centricity, innovation, speed, integrity, and sharing. These are the pillars that have allowed us to maintain our synergy throughout three decades. In the past few years, we have been actively transforming the company by investing in new technology and making a number of organizational adjustments. We believe that these important changes will allow us to achieve even more in the next 30 years.”
To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Zyxel plans to host a series of seminars, coding games, a family day, and many more corporate and public events. For more information please visit: www.zyxel.com
