Zyxel introduces IP Reputation Filter for robust, real-time network security
The collaboration with Webroot gives SMBs instant, cloud-based protection, ensuring hardware investments go the distance
Hsinchu, Taiwan, 26 August 2019—Zyxel announced today the release of the IP Reputation Filter, a cloud-based security service that provides businesses with unprecedented protection from an array of network threats. Since compromised IP addresses may cycle from malicious to benign at a moment’s notice, it can be difficult for businesses without dedicated IT teams to set up effective security policies. With multiple layers of defense, user-friendly design, and access to an expanding database of malicious IPs from Webroot, a Carbonite company, the IP Reputation Filter is the ideal solution for SMBs needing complete and hassle-free protection.
Instant, up-to-date network defense
Before connecting with all incoming or outgoing traffic, the IP Reputation Filter automatically screens for and blocks threats from malicious IPs. This preventive feature significantly cuts down on the system resources required for deep traffic inspections. By reducing the considerable demands placed upon hardware, the IP Reputation Filter allows SMBs to make the most of their network infrastructure investments. It also saves time, as businesses no longer need to laboriously configure security policies to block IPs one by one. Furthermore, the IP Reputation Filter routinely checks the Webroot BrightCloud® Threat Intelligence database of malicious IPs, so it is always able to meet the latest threats.
“According to our research, a single IP could be responsible for more than 400,000 phishing sites. At Webroot, we continuously classify and score more than 4.3 billion IP addresses every day to ensure consumers are able to navigate the web safely,” said Hal Lonas, CTO of Webroot, the Smarter Cybersecurity® company. “We’re more than pleased that our extensive database helps Zyxel’s security products and services build the first line of defense for SMBs.”
Threat protection above the rest
Although other firewalls may be able to handle typical network threats, they come nowhere close to the overall coverage of ZyWALL ATP firewalls armed with the IP Reputation Filter. In addition to combating 10 common threat categories, the filter prevents malicious botnet and C&C attacks. And by blocking IPs based upon threat level, the IP Reputation Filter offers granular defense that is truly unmatched. Users also get crystal-clear visibility into all the above threat activity with Zyxel’s SecuReporter, which is conveniently bundled with the Gold Security Pack.
“The addition of the IP Reputation Filter to the ATP series solidifies Zyxel’s position as a leader in network security,” stated Nathan Yen, AVP of Zyxel’s Gateway Business Center. “Our security products are perfect for SMBs that want to worry less about threats and more about future growth.”
The IP Reputation Filter, bundled with the Gold Security Pack license for ZyWALL ATP firewalls, is supported by the following products running firmware version ZLD4.35: ATP100 (available in Q4 2019) & ATP200 for SB; ATP500 for SMB; ATP800 for MB.
