ZyXEL unveils new range of web-managed switches

GS1920 series creates a ‘one-network’ experience for SMBs to deliver a cost-effective, reliable and secure IT infrastructure

29.7.2014

ZyXEL Communications has today unveiled its new range of web-managed switches. The GS1920 series replaces ZyXEL’s award-winning 1910 range, and features improved security, increased network availability and outstanding intelligent power function support. It is robust yet flexible, making it ideal for SMBs and those in the Hospitality and Education sectors who need high performance networks that can quickly grow to match the business.

Available in 24 and 48-port configurations, the GS1920 series offers comprehensive access protection, along with simple and secure network control. Thanks to its intrusion lock, the series can detect connection status and ensure port security. It supports 802.1X authentication with RADIUS and can monitor, filter and police all traffic within the same subnet, creating an even higher degree of security.

SMEs rely on their network for mission critical business applications and data, so disruptions and downtime are not acceptable. The GS1920 series ensures uninterrupted connectivity through Loop Guard that prevents disruption when switching between loops, IP Source Guard that protects the network from MAC and ARP spoof attacks and CPU protection, which guarantees network uptime, even when the system is under attack.

The GS1920 series is also one of the few managed switches with intelligent power function support. When set to Consumption Mode, the switches automatically detects the power consumption status of each device and supplies only the amount of power required. This minimises the overpowering of devices enabling the PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch to power more devices while reducing electricity costs. The total PoE budget is just 375 Watts and PoE+ support is provided for all ports

“SMEs want to concentrate on running their business, improving their customer service and beating the competition. They don’t want to be sidetracked by constantly managing a poorly performing network,” explained Martin Bratičák, Head of Channel CEE at ZyXEL. “With the GS1920 series, businesses can do this. It has few network disruptions, offers a greater degree of security and is a cost-effective ‘one-network’ solution, making it ideal for growing businesses.”

The GS1920, is available in 24/48 100/1000BASE-T PoE Plus or non-PoE copper ports, as well as non-blocking performance and high-power budget support to support a greater number of network connections. It is fully compatible with the ZyXEL One Network, which allows the switch to easily discover other ZyXEL products and solutions on the network, making network management and administration even easier.

As a part of the ZyXEL One Network, to be launched later in 2014, the GS1920 series will be able to use the ZON utility and Inter-device features to reduce the time and effort necessary to set up a network. The GS1920 series allows one-click remote management to detect ports that connect neighboring devices while displaying IP information via a Web-based GUI. If a network-connected device such as a Wi-Fi access point fails to operate properly, administrators can power-reset the device from a switch using the Web-based GUI. Additionally, the GS1920 series supports iStacking, which allows 1-IP management to configure, monitor and troubleshoot multiple switches installed at a variety of physical locations.
