December 27, 2004

Taipei, December 8, 2004 -- ZyXEL Communications (TSE:2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, and Trend Micro Inc. today jointly demonstrated ZyXEL P-334WT, the first offspring of their collaboration for the home market. The new model has been released today by the presidents of respective companies: Dr. Shun-I Chu of ZyXEL and Mr. Steve Chang of Trend Micro. As an intelligent fusion of ZyXEL's Wireless g+ SuperSpeed technology and Trend Micro Home Network Security Services (TMSS), the new ZyXEL P-334WT will bring doubled speed and security to home networks, according to Dr. Chu and Mr. Chang.

"ZyXEL P-334WT and the g+ wireless LAN card series are milestones of ZyXEL's home networking market efforts." Dr. Chu Shun-I, the President of ZyXEL, states, "The new wireless series will provide more speed and friendlier interface to home users for easy setup and use. As the Internet environment and threats become so complicated, the home gateway security is now a serious business. We are very delighted to work with Trend Micro, the antivirus and content safety leader. With our advanced information security knowledge, the teamwork of the two companies will promise more protection and peace-of-mind to the home networking market."

"As the threats from the Internet become ubiquitous, home network security has emerged as one of the hottest issues. In this situation, antivirus software alone would not be sufficient for an effective protective frontline." Mr. Steve Chang, the President of Trend Micro, also indicates. "Building the network security measures into the gateway will offer enhanced protection to home users, and create a worry-free Internet stronghold for them. With the tight collaboration between Trend Micro and ZyXEL, we were able to embed the TMSS features - network virus suppression, hacker blockade, and security vulnerability assessment into ZyXEL P-334WT. The home users will be informed of the real-time status of their computers and network security for more protection."

ZyXEL P-334WT employs ZyXEL's Wireless g+ SuperSpeed technology, which boosts the data transfer rate up to the amazing 125Mbps if paired with ZyXEL's g+ Series network interface cards. ZyXEL P-334WT has the SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall features built-in, which effectively blocks the unidentified network activities, and the Trend Micro Home Network Security Services further doubles the security for home networks.

ZyXEL P-334WT features ZyXEL's "One-Touch" Intelligent Security Technology, which establishes highest-level security between the access point and ZyXEL Wireless g+ Series network interface cards. In addition, ZyXEL P-334WT also provides WEP and WPA wireless encryption mechanisms to ensure the highest possible data integrity.
