ZyXEL Switches and WLAN Access Points to Empower ASSEMBLY 2003, the World's Largest Programming Contest

(Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 7, 2003) ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), world�s leading broadband access solution provider, announced today that its Dimension Switches and ZyAIR WLAN Access Points will be deployed in the high-speed network during the ASSEMBLY '03 event. ASSEMBLY (http://www.assembly.org), the world's largest and most respected media art and gaming contest, is scheduled to take place in Helsinki, Finland on 7-10th, August 2003. This highly regarded annual international event is expected to gather more than 5,000 computer programmers, media artists and gamers from more than 20 countries, as well as media from all over the world.

According to Assembly Organizing, there will be 18 competition categories in ASSEMBLY '03, and the venue will host a computer network which consists of over 3,300 PCs, as well as more than 3,000 network ports provided through ZyXEL's Dimension Switches. The Assembly Organizing is expecting an outbound backbone bandwidth of 1Gbps to the Internet during the four days. Data transferred amount is also estimated to reach 15 Terabytes (15,728,640 Mbytes), which is more than triple the national's normal amount during the same time frame. Aside from ZyXEL, HP, Nokia, and nVIDIA also contribute to ASSEMBLY's IT infrastructure.
