(Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 4, 2003) ZyAIR G-1000, the 802.11g-compliant WLAN access point scheduled to be launched in August by ZyXEL Communications, has been awarded as "Editors' Choice" in the access point enterprise buyers' guide review held by iThome Weekly (www.ithome.com.tw) in July. In this review, ZyAIR G-1000 defeated 802.11g access points from D-Link, Buffalo, ASUS, and PCi to won the coveted title. The review and test reports will be unveiled in the 96th issue of iThome Weekly.

In helping businesses to acquire and deploy appropriate 802.11g wireless networks, iThome closely inspected six 802.11g access points for their data transfer performance, compatibility, security, as well as configuration and management features. Among all models reviewed, ZyAIR G-1000 was rewarded with 5-star ranking in data transfer performance, and 4.5-stars in compatibility.

"The data transfer effectiveness of ZyAIR was astounding!" Mr. Ron Lo, the leading iThome Technical Editor in this review, asserted, "At the range of five meters, ZyAIR G-1000's transfer rate reached 20.39Mbps, given the average figure of all products being 14.35Mbps; and its average rate was impressively over 20.14Mbps, well above all other access points."

In the transfer range test, ZyAIR G-1000 performed equally remarkable. "ZyAIR G-1000's signal traveled 100 meters indoors. It has the most far-reaching and powerful signal strength." Stated Lo. For communicating with WLAN cards from other manufacturers, ZyAIR G-1000 also offered the best compatibility, as well as exceptionally fast transfer speed.

In terms of security, configuration, and management, ZyAIR G-1000 supports 802.1x identity authentication to reinforce WLAN security. In addition, the reviewing editors also praised its DHCP Client and centralized network management system. "Together, the speedy data rate, impressive range, as well as excellent security and expansion features all make ZyAIR G-1000 a desirable choice for access point buyers." Lo recommended at the end of the review.
