(Hsinchu, March 3, 2004) ZyXEL Communications (TSE:2391), world's leading broadband access solutions provider, today unveils its innovative ZyXEL iStacking technology for network administrators managing multiple ZyXEL switches. iStacking is a Web-based application built into ZyXEL switches for managing disperse ZyXEL Dimension switches with just one IP address.

ZyXEL iStacking is a "clustering" network management function. Through its "software stacking" mechanism, the ZyXEL Dimension switch, designated as "manager", can locate the other iStacking-capable ZyXEL member switches on the same network, and manage up to 24 switches with just one IP address.

With the centralized single-IP Web or Telnet administration interface, the IT staff is able to configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot all the ZyXEL switches on the network remotely, thus simplify the routine maintenance and reduce the support cost significantly.

"We've seen switches required to be located together for physical connections," said Dr. Yuh-Long Chen, ZyXEL's President. "However, ZyXEL's software-based iStacking technology leaps beyond this limitation, empowering network administrators to manage the ZyXEL Dimension switches located in different wiring closets, or even on different floors, while making reconfiguration easy and snappy."

Availability
